About
The Holy Quran is fountain head of entire learning, but there is a striking difference between the Holy Quran and other books The Quran is word of Allah (SWT) and books on various branches of knowledge are human studies of Allah’s creation. These books deal with specific subjects and topics. A book on one discipline is quiet on other disciplines. They are no way comparable with the Holy Quran. The Holy Quran is a treasure of our knowledge and learning that man may need till end of time. All knowledge originates from the Holy Quran. This is the basic truth of Islamic doctrine of knowledge. We need to get out of the darkness of ignorance and move towards the limelight and bright future. The Holy Prophet (SAW) said,
“O people I am leaving behind among you the Holy Book (Quran) and the Sunnah (way of Prophet (SAW)), if you follow these in letter and spirit you will never be strayed.”

An History of the Quran
Acording to traditional Islamic beliefs, the Quran was revealed to Muhammad, starting one night during the month of Ramadan in 610 AD, when he, at the age of forty, received the first revelation from the angel Gabriel, who had given him the responsibility for inscribing these messages from God to give to mankind.[3]
Muslim scholars believe that Muhammad was illiterate, as mentioned in the Quran itself, [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_the_Quran#Origin_according_to_Islamic_tradition ]
“Those who follow the messenger, the Prophet who can neither read nor write, whom they will find described in the Torah and the Gospel (which are) with them……”Quran 7:157.
According to Bukhari (810–870), Muhammad’s wife Khadija bint Khuwaylid described that the first Quranic revelation occurred when the angel Gabriel visited Muhammad and asked him to recite. Muhammad responded ma ana bīqāre’u, which could be translated into a number of ways: ‘I do not read’ or ‘what am I to read/recite?’ or ‘I will not read/recite’. Gabriel pressed him “until all the strength went out of me; thereupon he released me and said: ‘Read!'” This was repeated three times and upon the third, Gabriel released him and said, “Read in the name of the Sustainer who created humankind from a clot! Read! And your Sustainer is the most Beautiful.”[4]:39–41 After this Muhammad continued sporadically over a period of twenty-three years to have revelations, until shortly before his death in 11/632.[4]:45

Back in the 1980’s I was fortunate to interview and access an interfaith group with the view to making them a Field study for a course in Anthropology. Not only did I research as an onlooker but made it a point to speak with the Muslim in charge of Education at the local Mosque.
After showing me the Mosque, then in the building that used to house The World Wide church of God, she gave me a copy of Abdullah Yusuf Ali’s translation of the Message of the Quran.
I began to read it with the purpose of disambiguating it to show that it is a Book of Peace not violence.
I have participated in a few forums on line, which, however seem to get stuck on certain themes regarding the Christian Bible, and not much educated insight into the actual meaning of either.
I did not get very far with my efforts there, especially once it was known that I wasn’t there for an argument.
